All Star Cleaning - Make Your Own All-Purpose Spray

Cleaning during COVID-19: Creating your own all-purpose spray cleaners

It’s stressful to be caught short-handed on cleaning supplies and your favorite go-tos may be running a bit low. With a little ingenuity, you can create your very own all-purpose spray cleaner.

The basic formula is:

  • One part white vinegar
  • One part filtered water
  • A squirt of natural soap
  • Essential oils of your choice for scents

Combine these in a spray bottle and shake before cleaning (avoid using this spray on stone surfaces like granite, though – stone doesn’t like acid!)

For a scent-less version that also removes odors, you can try the following:

  • 4 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1 quart warm water

Combine in a spray bottle and shake until well-mixed. Spray it on, let it dry, then wipe (or vacuum) it away. Not only will this get rid of funky odors in the fridge and beyond, it’s also a good general-purpose de-greaser and de-gunker.

No stress required, no harsh chemicals, and the warm glow of knowing exactly what you’re spraying around your house. Does it get any better than that? (I guess if we were doing the cleaning for you, right?)

Next week we’ll have some helpful hints for de-funkifying your dishwasher. With the weather getting warmer and more late-night fun things to do happening outside, we’re happy to take your cleaning chores off your plate – just let us know how we can help.
